Argos Update: August 5, 2026
Hello everyone,
Timeline questions have been the biggest thing on everyone's mind, so we’ll go over the current status of assembly and what is to come.
Timeline: Production Status
"Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong" is the unfortunate reality of small business.
In early July, one of our large parts shipments got lost at the local trucking company's warehouse for two weeks. We'd sent those parts by air specifically so we could keep building while a separate boat shipment was still in transit. Not a cheap call, but one we felt was worth it. Instead, the missing parts turned up and were delivered the day before the boat shipment came in. That timing basically defeated the entire point of expediting by air freight in the first place.
Nonetheless, the team put in long hours to catch up. By Sunday, August 2nd, we had assembled and QC'd everything through order OE-1534, our fulfillment goal for July 31. Every one of those units was complete except for the black color front and back covers, which were due to arrive any day. The plan from there was to spend this week and next installing covers and shipping units out.
Then came the second issue. Our shipment of black front and back covers arrived Monday with the back covers out of spec. This is the first time we've had an issue with the covers, but the flange that mounts the top of the cover to the manifold was out of spec, which pushed the cover alignment 2mm too far back and left a large gap. We obviously can't ship those. We immediately contacted our local powdercoaters to see how quickly they can coat a batch of our good stainless steel covers while our supplier rushes to remake and ship a corrected batch of black.
In the meantime, we've been installing all of the front covers and prepping order boxes with accessories, so we're not sitting idle. Unfortunately, the back cover issue does delay fulfillment. We expect usable back covers by the end of next week. Once those are in hand, we'll need the following one to two weeks to install them, do final visual QC, place units into their pre-prepped boxes, and ship them out. We'll keep assembling and QC'ing new machines on schedule the whole time so we don't fall behind while we wait on this one part. The few stainless and white builds are still shipping.
Overall, the good news is we have a ton of machines assembled, QC'd, and almost ready to ship. The bad news is we're waiting on these corrected parts to finish the job. If your order falls within the dates on our posted timeline, you should have already received an address confirmation, and your machine is about 95% complete. Shipping confirmation will be coming soon. We'll send another update as soon as covers are in hand and machines start heading out the door.
Scratch and Dent Sale: Thank You
The scratch and dent sale was a success, so thank you to everyone who picked up a lightly scratched unit. This will help us clear out space in the shop over the next few months, and we appreciate the support. To be clear, these sales are separate from the timeline above.
Updated Lead Time
Below is our updated shipping timeline. Orders through OE-1534 (originally targeted for July 31) are built, QC’d, serial plaqued, and getting front covers and OE-1535 through OE-1590 (originally targeted for August 7) are currently in progress. By the end of the week, we expect to be on track to have OE-1535 through OE-1590 built with front covers, QC’d, and serial plaques bonded on while boxes continue to be prepped per order.
Next week will be the same process up through OE-1730 and once our back covers arrive, they will be assembled, installed, receive final visual QC, then start shipping on August 17th. It will take time to get all of these orders out the door with labels which is why we want to estimate 2 weeks. Everything from OE-1731 onward remains on its originally posted schedule.
These are still estimates, and unfortunately delays do cause a ripple effect, so if your order is further out in the queue there's a bit more uncertainty until parts are fully in hand.
