Argos Update: June 9, 2025

Tariffs and Import Cost of the Argos

Do I have to pay import duties and if so, how much?

We ship all our products from our shop in the United States. So that means that if you are ordering from outside of the US, you will have to pay import duties when your shipment arrives in your country. Recent volatility in global trade policies has caused significant fluctuations/increases in what you will be billed. Due to this, we’ve changed how we itemize the customs invoice which directly affects the cost of import.

Updated Customs Invoice

It’s important to note that you only pay import duties on physical goods that enter the country. Previously we had assigned the total order amount to Argos itself, meaning you owed an import duty on your total order amount.

Moving forward we will assign a value of $600 to the Argos companion app which has functionality that is only available when you connect the app to a machine (such as plotting brews, enabling/disabling classic mode, etc). The rest of the value of your order will be assigned to the Argos. Since the app and app license is delivered electronically, it is typically not subject to import duties (some countries still have import duties on this). It’s important to note that our companion app is still free on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. It’s just that you cannot access certain features until it's connected to an Argos.

So to re-emphasize, the price of the Argos is staying the same at $1,220 USD, but now the amount typically subject to import duties will be $620 + accessories + shipping costs instead of the total order amount. See the table below.

Previous Customs Invoice

  • Argos: $1220

New Customs Invoice

  • Argos: $620

  • Argos Companion App License: $600

So for example if the import duty was 20%

Previously you would have to pay $1220 x 20% = $244.00

Now you’ll have to pay $620 x 20% = $124.00

Again, not all countries recognize this and your experience may vary. Generally speaking if you country participates in the WTO, you will have a reduced import bill.

What if I already pre-ordered a machine but it hasn’t shipped yet?

Your shipment will have the new itemized customs invoice and a lower import duty bill effective on shipments departing our shop today, June 9, 2025 and beyond.

The Future

We plan to continue on expanding what we deliver digitally for the machine including educational material and more app functionality to further bolster this value.

Existing Customers

For our loyal customers who purchased the Argos under the previous customs invoicing, we deeply appreciate your support. As a token of our gratitude, we're offering existing customers a 1 year extension on our manufacturer’s warranty.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact our support team at support@odysseyespresso.com.

Canadian Customers

Previously we had mentioned a $150 CAD reimbursement if your shipment was subject to a 50% tariff. Since this new itemization should substantially lower the bill due, we will be lowering our reimbursement to $75 CAD if your package is subject to a 25% tariff.

Important Note

Ultimately it is at the discretion of your countries customs office and the person processing your package what you will end up being billed. Some countries have an import duty on digital goods. Others might allow for the exemption but still have other taxes not related to duties. Please consult your local countries laws and customs office for full details. You are ultimately responsible for import duty bill.

PS: We now accept all major credit cards as well as PayPal!
